Admar Promotions Group: Glossary of Ad Specialty Related TermsThe following is a list of words and their definitions that may arise in when discussing your marketing/promotion plans or corporate gifts with a promotional products company like Admar.

Admar Promo Points: Earn promotional points towards premium products, like high-end DVD players and GPS units, when you purchase from Admar. See also Loyalty Program.
Advertising Specialties or ad specialties: imprinted promotional products distributed for free, e.g. an imprinted Bankers¨ ballpoint metal pen with chrome trim.
Advertising (promotional) products: products used to advertise a company.
Business gift / Corporate gift: an item given voluntarily as a sign of appreciation to a person involved in business activities.
Business promotional products: a.k.a. corporate gifts or business gifts; promotional products given to business associates, usually intended as a gesture of gratitude or good will.
Clearance: heavily discounted items no longer being offered in Admar's inventory of 1,000,000 promotional products.
Commemorative: item that serves as a reminder or memorial of a special occasion or person, e.g. an engraved wall plaque or decorative optical crystal.
Corporate apparel: clothing which has been branded by a company.
Corporate promotional gift: gifts which have a dual function of promoting a
company.
Custom gifts: products which were tailor-made or altered specifically for a certain person or group of people, includes items such as custom bags, promotional mugs, promotional clothing, etc.
Custom imprinted: imprinted products which are promotional; products which have been imprinted with a company's brand, such as promotional pens, promotional t-shirts, etc.
Custom promotional products: merchandise that is altered so that it can be used in the promotion of a company with their specific and unique characteristics, such as company name, logo, address, website address, phone and fax numbers, tagline, etc.
Deboss: To press a design into a metal, leather, fleece, etc. surface.
Emboss: A technique which creates a raised (3-dimensional) image on fabric, etc.
Embroidery: An ancient variety of decorative needlework in which designs and pictures are created by stitching strands of some material on to a layer of another material. Most embroidery uses thread or wool stitched onto woven fabric or other materials, such as fleece, leather, nylon, etc.
Employee Recognition: an item given to an employee as a reward for excellence, achievement, safety, service, quality or commitment. Why not an imprinted Spector & Co. leather business card case for your sales team?
Etching: the art of preparing etched plates from which designs and pictures are printed using acid or similar chemicals.
Executive gifts: gifts given at the executive level; see also: business gifts or corporate gifts.
Golf promotional products: golf products which have been altered to advertise a company.
Imprinted promotional product: a.k.a. advertising specialty; merchandise that is branded in a permanent manner (e.g. ink, embroidery, etc.) to promote or brand a company. E.g. a customized Nike cap embroidered with your company logo or imprinted pens with your company name and contact information.
Incentive: something that inspires or tends to encourage action, or greater effort, as a reward
offered for increased productivity or loyalty.
Laser engrave: practice of using lasers to engrave or mark an object.
Logo products: merchandise imprinted with a company logo, includes logo items such
as embroidered logo apparel and imprinted logo pens, etc.
Loyalty Program: a unique and customized ad specialties strategy using incentives to
promote various business goals, such as customer loyalty, employee retention and branding.
Online Corporate Store: or electronic commerce
(e-commerce) consists of buying and selling products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.
Personalized gifts: see also custom gifts or unique gifts.
Premium: 1) imprinted promotional products which are given as prizes, bonuses, awards or incentives for a precise action. 2) a high quality product or a highly priced item.
Promotional giveaway: merchandise branded with a company name and given to potential
customers for free.
Promotional marketing: programs designed to increase visibility of a company (brand awareness) with the intention to drive consumer action.
Promotional merchandise: see promotional products.
Promotional products: specialty items used for advertising; includes both decorative and
useful items of merchandise that can be incorporated in marketing campaigns used to endorse a product, service or company agenda. They can include advertising specialties, apparel, awards, business gifts, commemoratives, premiums, prizes, etc. and typically have an imprint of a brand, logo, or message.
ROI (return on investment): the total profit or savings less the original
investment. It can also measure the effectiveness of promotional products in achieving a desired result.
Safety program: a reward-based promotional products strategy used to encourage awareness
of and adherence to company safety standards.
Silk screen: a stencil method of printmaking in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. Also called screen-printing, silk-screen
process.
Specials: regularly stocked items chosen to be featured for a limited time only through a price reduction.
Tackle twill: a woven pattern of diagonal or twill lines that run upward to the right or left of the fabric face.
Tradeshow giveaways: custom promotional items that a company orders in so that they may
give something away for free to their potential customers during a tradeshow.
Unique gifts: unusual or one-of-a-kind gifts.
Vector artwork: electronic artwork offered in a high quality and adjustable format, such as those produced in programs such as, adobe illustrator or coral draw.
